Instructions for Setting Up Your Access Point

The WiFi access points used in all Bloom Intelligence installations are high-quality commercial access points capable of covering as much as 5,000 square feet and handling hundreds of simultaneous users. If properly installed, you will never have to worry about your guests having a bad WiFi experience!

Proper installation begins with placing your access point in an ideal location. An ideal location is one in which the signal is unrestricted by walls, beams, or anything else that might get in between the access point and your guests. For this reason, we highly recommend mounting the device in the ceiling in the center of your largest customer area.

The following photo shows an example of a well-placed access point.

While you can certainly install the system yourself if you have the tools, a ladder, and some basic technical knowledge, we recommend hiring an installer to do this for you. (Hey -- You wouldn't attempt to do your own dentistry, would you?)

The following instructions are for you if you plan to install the system yourself. If you would prefer to have the system professionally installed, you may either contact your current technical consultant or contact our Customer Success Team at cr@bloomintelligence.com to request a Bloom Intelligence professional installer.

What's In the Box

Inside the package you receive from Bloom Intelligence you will find:

  • A POE Injector or AC Power Supply
  • An Ethernet Cable Label
  • A Toolkit

This is because some locations may need very long cables, while others may require only 20 or 30 feet of cable. Be sure and measure carefully to ensure that you purchase enough a long enough cable for your location. We recommend purchasing Cat5E cable. This is a common cable that can be found at Best Buy or any similar brick-and-mortar or online computer supply store.

(Please Note: If the equipment you receive from Bloom Intelligence includes a POE injector instead of an AC power supply, you will need two Ethernet cables - one long, and one short.)

Your access point will be pre-configured and ready to go. You'll just need to mount it and run the cables back to your Internet connection, and you'll have top-notch WiFi in no time!

Installing Your Access Point

Once you have received your package and purchased an appropriate length of Ethernet cable, you are ready to get started installing your system.

Here are the steps you'll need to take:

  1. Identify a good location for the access point, and mount the device using the provided toolkit. You may need a ladder and other tools to complete this step.
  2. Your hardware will be shipped with either a POE injector or an AC power adapter:
    • If you have received a POE injector, plug an Ethernet cable into the port on the Bloom Intelligence access point. Plug the other side of that Ethernet cable into the Data & Power Out port on the black POE injector. Plug a second Ethernet cable into the Data In port of the black POE injector. Plug the other side of that Ethernet cable into an open port on your main router or modem. Plug the POE injector into a power source.
    • If you received an AC power adapter, plug it into your Bloom Intelligence WiFi Access Point and then connect it to a power source. Plug the Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port on your Bloom Intelligence WiFi Access Point. Plug the other end of the Ethernet cable into your existing router or modem.
  3. After the access point is connected to your router or modem and the power connected, the access point's LED lights will blink as the device initializes. When you see a green or blue light, you are online and your access point is ready to use.
  4. Test your system by joining your WiFi network. It will be named "[YOUR BUSINESS NAME] Guest WiFi". After you join the network, your custom Bloom Intelligence WiFi landing page will appear.
